The Monroe County legislature has approved a proposal giving free phone calls to inmates at the county jail.
Inmates will receive 75 minutes of free calls per month.
The calls would be paid for with commissions the county earns from its telephone services vendor.
The measure approved last night makes permanent a temporary policy that was launched by Sheriff Todd Baxter in December.
