Train Strikes Jeep in Chili

Authorities say no one was hurt when a freight train hit a Jeep on the tracks on Archer Road in Chili.

It happened shortly before 7:30 last night when deputies say the Jeep driver went around the crossing gates while the CSX train was in reverse, at a slow speed.

The train could not stop, and dragged the Jeep about 25 feet.

The Jeep driver, a man from Chili, was not hurt, but he was ticketed for driving past the gates, and the Jeep had significant damage.

The train did not derail, but Archer Road was closed last night while crews worked to remove the Jeep.
