Local health officials say a COVID mutation that has been found in the South Africa and Brazil strains has also been found here in Monroe County.
Infectious disease expert at Rochester Regional Health, Dr. Emil Lesho, says what was found here in Monroe County is not identical to the strains found in South Africa and Brazil, but does have some similarities.
The mutation was found in samples taken from four separate patients.
Lesho says it is important to continue to wear your mask, wash your hands and stay socially distanced.
