UPDATE: AG James Officially Receives Referral to Probe Cuomo Allegations

UPDATE: State Attorney General Letitia James is officially on a probe into sexual harassment claims against Governor Cuomo.

James says she has received a referral letter from Cuomo's counsel.

According to state law, James's office could not start an investigation until they received that referral directly from the governor's office.

Yesterday, James announced she would appoint a special deputy to conduct an independent investigation into the allegations.

We may be getting an independent investigation into sexual harassment allegations against Governor Cuomo.

Letitia James says state law mandates a referral must come from the Governor's office itself.

Counsel for the governor says they will fully comply with the AG's office, as well as the chief judge of the court of appeals, to select an independent counsel to conduct a probe.

Cuomo maintains he never intended to act inappropriately with his accuser.

Charlotte Bennett was an executive assistant and health policy advisor under Andrew Cuomo until she left the job in November.

She told the New York Times the governor harassed her late last spring, including specifically on June 5th when she says he asked her a number of questions about her personal life, including whether she thought age mattered in a romantic relationship.
