Nursing Home Visits to Resume Today

For the first time in months, some nursing homes across New York State will start allowing visitors today.

People haven't been able to visit their loved ones and friends because of concerns about the spread of coronavirus.

Visits are still forbidden within two weeks of a positive COVID case inside the nursing home.

At facilities in locations where the COVID-19 transmission rate is under five-percent, rapid testing for the virus is suggested but not mandatory.

Visitors will still be banned from nursing homes in communities where the infection rate is over 10 percent.
