The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a Penfield Volunteer Ambulance went off East River Road in Henrietta and smashed into a tree.
The driver was seriously injured. He was the only person on board.
Deputies say the driver may have had a medical emergency that caused him to go off the road. He’s an employee of a third party who had permission to be driving the ambulance, not a member of Penfield Volunteer Ambulance itself.
