Monroe County Implementing Mental Heath Task Force Report

Monroe County officials say they are working to find better ways to deliver vital mental health and substance use disorder services to residents who need them.

County Executive Adam Bello outlined recommendations the county is taking following the release of the Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder 90-Day Task Force Report, which was completed in January.

The county will start having behavioral health crisis calls that do not require an immediate, in-person response directed from 911 to 211 for assessment and de-escalation.

It will also expand dispatch options for crisis calls that DO require a timely in-person response.

Bello also announced the appointment of Dr. April Aycock as Director of the Monroe County Office of Mental Health. She will lead the implementation of these recommendations.
