Warren Heads to Albany to Request State Aid

Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren

They call it "The Tin Cup Brigade"...the day mayors of New York's "Big Five" cities go before state legislature budget hearings and call for increased state aid.

This year, with a pandemic stretching resources to the limit, was no exception.

Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren said the city is facing a near $31.5 million revenue gap in its next fiscal year budget.

She implored the legislature to invest more in Rochester, saying the pandemic has forced to city to do more with less, including furloughing some employees, deferring capital spending and more.

The mayor said the city has also been forced to distribute millions of meals to families while schools were shut down, and to provide rent and business assistance to keep families afloat during the pandemic.
