A hearing is set for next month on the preliminary settlement of a lawsuit brought against the Rochester City School District by students with disabilities and their parents.
The plaintiffs claimed in 2019 that the district failed to provide an appropriate education to students with disabilities and failed to properly involve their parents in the development of individualized education programs.
Under the proposed settlement, the district will agree to fully comply with the laws governing the education of students with disabilities.
The district must also meet 14 performance goals by 2023.
