Possible Settlement for Family of Drowned Teen with City School District

13-WHAM says a settlement may be coming between the Rochester City School District and the family of Trevyan Rowe, who was 14 when he wandered away from School Number 12 and drowned in the Genesee River.

A report from the State Attorney General's Office and the New York State Education Department faulted the city schools for failing to have sufficient services to keep track of students with mental health and special education needs...and procedures to keep students safe at school.

A school board resolution says the board approved a more than $1.1 million settlement with the Rowe family, but the settlement still requires court approval.

The district and the administrator representing Rowe's estate did not want to comment.
