New York State is trying to deter coronavirus vaccine fraud with stiff penalties. Governor Cuomo signed an executive order today that allows the state to fine a health care provider up to a million dollars and take their licenses away for vaccine-related fraud.
Parcare Community Health Network out of Orange County and Brooklyn is under investigation. The state's health commissioner alleges Parcare told the state they were a qualified health center to obtain the vaccine when in fact they were not and gave the vaccine to people not on the priority list. Parcare says it followed all state procedures for obtaining the Moderna vaccine.
