Pre-trial Hearing Set for Today in the Brighton Ax Murder Case

A pre-trial hearing is set for today in the Brighton ax murder case.

James Krauseneck Jr. was indicted last year for allegedly killing his wife, Cathleen, with a single blow from an ax to her head in their Brighton home in February 1982.

He claimed someone killed her while he was at work.

The defense says new evidence contradicts testimony that was presented to the grand jury about the time of death. The defense is asking that the indictment be thrown out.

The trial had been scheduled to take place over the summer but was delayed by the pandemic.
