Rochester is getting a new charter school.
The state education department has granted approval to the Science Academies of New York to open in Rochester next fall.
It will offer a college-prep curriculum and focus on English Language Learners.
Science Academies of New York was founded in Syracuse in 2003 and was approved for a Rochester school based on its track record of academic success in state testing, cohort graduation rates, instructional practices, parent satisfaction, and financial stability.
