Wrong-Way Driver Identified, Charged With Reckless Endangerment

A driver who went the wrong way on the Thruway Friday night, deliberately ramming other cars and a pedestrian, has been identified as an Auburn man.

State Police say 37-year-old Emmett Ellis of Auburn was fired on by a trooper after he mowed down a pedestrian in the Scottsville Service Plaza. The shot missed, and Ellis drove off, but soon abandoned his car and was arrested. He's charged with assault and reckless endangerment. He's being held on $20,000 bail and the investigation is continuing.
