A former town clerk in Yates County is facing charges she stole nearly $24,000 in cash payments to the town over 17 months.
Julie Brown was the town clerk in the Town of Potter when the alleged thefts took place in 2018 and the first five months of 2019.
She allegedly took cash paid to the town for property taxes, marriage licenses, and hunting and building permits.
She resigned in May 2019 and faces four felony charges and one misdemeanor charge.
