Most Monroe County Schools Begin Coronavirus Testing Today

Schools in most of Monroe County are expected today to begin testing students for the coronavirus.

The state is requiring 20 percent of all in-person students in the designated "yellow-zone" be tested each week.

The schools can end the testing after two weeks, if the positivity rate is lower than the overall rate in the yellow zone

It wasn't clear last week who would be responsible for the costs associated with in-school testing, or what schools would do if large numbers of parents opted out.
