Cuomo Declares COVID Zones, But Not in Finger Lakes or Western NY

Governor Andrew Cuomo today declared eight COVID-19 focus zones across New York State...with one in Chemung County, but otherwise none in Central New York, Western New York or the Finger Lakes Regions.

Cuomo says New York's challenge is to manage these small spikes and try to make sure coronavirus spikes in other states don't bother us too much. The infection rate outside the focus zones, which are mostly downstate, is just over two percent. Within the focus zones it's more than four percent.

There were 213 new coronavirus cases statewide yesterday, and 18 deaths.
