Monroe Co. Legislator Barnhart Introducing Legislation to Help Restaurants

Monroe County Legislator Rachel Barnhart is proposing legislation she says could help local restaurants during the pandemic.

She's proposing a cap on the commission fees charged to restaurants by the third-party food delivery companies such as DoorDash and GrubHub.

She says the fees are sometimes as high as 30 percent of the purchase price and are adding to the strain restaurants are already facing during the pandemic.

Barnhart is calling for a 15 percent cap, and she would prohibit the third-party companies from reducing driver pay to comply with the fee cap.

The cap would expire 90 days after the end of the pandemic emergency.
