State Senate Candidates Don't Declare Victory...Yet

With 100-thousand absentee ballots still to count in Monroe County alone, not many candidates wanted to claim victory on election night, even if they had considerable leads.

State Senate candidate Democrat Samara Brouk is leading Republican Christopher Missick by 55 to 45 percent...but both say they'll wait to see the final numbers. Brouk said the most important thing for her is to see record high voter turnout and to be patient while the votes are counted. And Missick says his thoughts are about the people who helped him along his way.

In the much more tightly contested 56th State Senate District race, Democrat Jeremy Cooney leads Republican Mike Barry 51 to 49 percent. That race will be decided by the absentee votes.

In the Monroe County Clerk's race, Democratic incumbent Jamie Romeo leads Republican Karla Boyce by 52-to-47 percent. That could be close enough to be reversed by the absentee ballots if they don't break the same way as the election day votes.
