New York Governor Andrew Cuomo thinks the federal government's vaccination distribution plan is highly inefficient.
Cuomo got an update Friday from the White House Coronavirus Task Force. He says their plan involves giving the main vaccinations to the private sector using pharmacies and providers, and then paying them to administer it.
Cuomo calls that deeply flawed and very limited. He thinks it could take a year to do vaccinations that way based on how long it's taken to gear up coronavirus testing. The governor says that is the same network being used to do COVID testing and that would hurt testing capacity.
Cuomo would like to see money for states to set up a supplemental distribution network to help at places like schools.
