Monroe County Health Commissioner Dr. Michael Mendoza says the county is reporting 136 new cases of COVID-19 today. That's the largest number in one day since the start of the pandemic back in March.
Mendoza says contact tracing is showing some disturbing trends, starting with more people holding small gatherings where social distancing and mask wearing are not being observed. Mendoza says they're seeing a growing number of COVID-19 clusters among employees of Rochester-area companies...and they've also interviewed a number of people who went to work with a runny nose and other symptoms, just brushing it off as a cold.
Mendoza says this is a critical moment when we can't relax our guard against COVID-19 like this. He calls on people to stay home if they're sick, no matter what they think is the reason, follow social distancing and wear a mask.
