Agreement Reached on Bus Rides to Polls

The Republican and Democratic election commissioners in Monroe County appear to have come to an agreement about rides to the polling places.

Republican commissioner Lisa Nicolay had objected to an offer by RTS to take voters at a city apartment complex to their polling place. She said many of those voters are registered Democrats.

The Democratic Committee said her objections amounted to voter suppression, but Republicans say she was concerned about equal access for Republican voters.

Under the agreement, 13 WHAM reports RTS buses will be provided to 15 apartment buildings and organizations county-wide.
