Moehle Proposes Brighton Tax Hike

Brighton Town Supervisor Bill Moehle is proposing a property tax increase that's higher than the state's 2% annual tax cap.

He is calling for an increase of 3.4%.

He said at a Town Board meeting last night that town has already frozen wages to hold down costs, but he says revenue is down and there's no assurance the town will get aid from the federal government.

It will require a supermajority of the town board to approve a tax hike above the state cap.

The town's next budget hearing is October 28th.
