Foodlink Curbside Markets Roll Again

Four Foodlink trucks are crIss-crossing the Rochester area once again, carrying fresh fruits and vegetables to senior citizens and others who have trouble getting access to fresh food.

Foodlink's Curbside Market service is back, after having to take a break because of COVID-19. Foodlink's Mitch Gruber says the original Curbside Market trucks were mobile shopping markets, with people shopping inside, elbow to elbow. The coronavirus safe mode is to pre-package boxes of fruits and vegetables for delivery to customers without putting them at risk. Gruber says Foodlink is now on track to deliver more food to needy area residents than ever before, even with the coronavirus.

The ten-dollar boxes hold ten pounds of food from area farms, packaged by a distribution company in Rochester. The service is subsidized by the Partnership for a Health America.
