A Penfield man who worked for an extermination company is accused of putting cameras in a couple's home. Gary Stopani, 27, is charged with second-degree burglary and second-degree unlawful surveillance. Gates police say Stopani put two cameras in the couple's Jordan Avenue house - one in the bathroom and one in the bedroom. The couple called police after finding what they described as a "cell phone-looking covert camera" in their bedroom. According to court documents, Stopani placed the camera underneath a TV in the bedroom facing toward the bed. Police say the camera was placed there 24 hours before it was discovered. According to police, Stopani went into the home multiple times between January and October to change out the SIM card in a second covert camera, which was plugged in in the couple's bathroom. Stopani is an acquaintance of the family which gave him access to the couple's home. Investigators say Stopani put it there "for his own sexual gratification." Stopani was also employed by an exterminator company and had access to homes and businesses. If you recognize him and would like a law enforcement officer to inspect your home for electronic recording devices, call Gates Police at 911.
