A person has been killed in an apartment fire in Rochester.
The fire was reported around 3 a.m. in a two-story building on Chili Avenue, just west of Thurston Road.
Firefighters rescued seven other people, including one person on the second floor.
One person who breathed in the smoke was taken to the hospital.
The fire was confined to one apartment and was declared under control in 45 minutes.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Red Cross is assisting displaced tenants.
