A Monroe County Court Judge today sentenced 29-year-old Martha Jones to 18 years in prison, plus five years of post-release supervision. Jones was found guilty earlier this year on a manslaughter charge in the death of Micah Welch.
It was back in July of 2019 that Rochester Police Officers found Welch shot in the leg at a home on Brookdale Avenue. Authorities say Welch suffered a lot of blood loss and was pronounced dead at the scene.
District Attorney Sandra Doorley released a statement saying “On July 10, 2019, Martha Jones had no respect for Micah Welch’s life and the way his death would affect his loved ones. This was an unwarranted death, and now Martha Jones will be facing the consequences of her actions in the New York State Department of Corrections.”
