A student at Albion Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19. Interim Albion Central School District Superintendent Scott Bischoping says the student was last in school on Friday.
In a letter to the community he says the Orleans County Health Department is doing contact tracing and determining if there's a public health risk, going back 48 hours from when the student's symptoms began. Bischoping says students and staff have done a wonderful job up to now of following the mask wearing and social distancing protocols they have put in place.
He says this incident doesn't warrant closing the school, but he's keeping in close touch with the Health Department in case it becomes necessary or anyone needs to be quarantined.
