A controversial appointee on Rochester's Police Accountability Board has resigned.
Miquel Powell says in a statement his new graduate school schedule conflicts with the board schedule.
He says, however, he remains committed to ensuring police accountability and bringing attention to what he calls "the overt white supremacy" behind the police union lawsuit that stripped the board of its disciplinary power.
Powell's appointment was criticized because of his prison record.
In 2002, he fired a round into a house on Scio Street, wounding a woman who was picking up a child at a home daycare.
