New York will pass along the extended federal unemployment benefits available from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The so-called Lost Wages Assistance program will provide 300 dollars to unemployed residents, in addition to the state's regular benefits.
The program was created by the president's executive order August 8th, after Congress failed to pass an extension of federal unemployment benefits available since the start of the pandemic.
Governor Cuomo initially said he wasn't sure the new program was legal.
It is currently scheduled to end in December.
