The SUNY trustees have formally appointed Jim Malatras to be the new SUNY Chancellor.
Malatras is a close ally of Governor Cuomo and the current president of SUNY Empire State College.
He succeeds Kristina Johnson, who stepped down for a job at The Ohio State University.
He is the first SUNY graduate to become chancellor. He will be focusing on restoring enrollment levels, and building on SUNY’s reputation.
