Geneseo Man Faces Arson Charge

A man who allegedly tried to set a vacant house on fire in Geneseo is now facing an arson charge.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office says they were called to Big Tree Lane last week, after witnesses reported a person had tried to set a house on fire then fled the scene.

One witness was able to quickly extinguish the fire and provide a detailed description of the suspect.

A short time later, deputies caught up with 20-year-old John Duncanson near the athletic fields on the SUNY Geneseo Campus.

Duncanson refused to stop for authorities and ran from the scene, but was eventually taken into custody.

He is facing charges of third degree arson and obstructing governmental administration.
