The New York State Education Department has released the final school reopening guidance for the upcoming school year.
All school districts in the state have to come up with a re-opening plan and submit it to the state by the end of the month.
Each plan must include how the school will navigate the guidelines put out by the state.
The 145 page document breaks down the guidelines in more than a dozen categories.
In the health and safety category, schools and districts will be required to perform health checks and screenings, develop plans to maximize social distancing and develop plans to manage and isolate anyone who gets sick, until they can be sent home.
In the transportation category, each district will be required to disinfect school buses regularly, and both students and drivers will have to wear masks and practice social distancing on the bus.
In the school schedules category, schools must create a plan for in-person instruction, remote instruction or a hybrid of both.
