Vandalized Frederick Douglass Statue Replaced

The Frederick Douglass statue that was vandalized last week at Maplewood Park has been replaced.

The new Douglass statue was placed there this morning.

It's predecessor was torn off its base and left nearby. It could not be repaired. The person or persons responsible have not been caught.

Among those present for today's ceremony were the young men who tore down a similar Douglass statue in a drunken prank in 2018.

John Boedicker and Charles Milks offered their support to the people connected to the Douglass statue project.
