Canandaigua police say they were able to convince a man to leave his apartment peacefully after he barricaded himself in side and threatened to kill himself.
Officers responded to the apartment on Bristol Street for a domestic dispute call. A woman and several children left the apartment, but the man barricaded himself inside with several knives and threatened to force police to kill him.
A sergeant trained in crisis intervention and mental health personnel were brought to the scene, and the sergeant was finally able to persuade the man to come out. The area was closed off for about an hour and a half.
