Major Drug Ring Smashed in Rochester

A joint federal-state-and-local task force today arrested nine drug dealers and smashed an organization that smuggled drugs from New York City and Atlanta to Rochester over the past two years.

Twelve search warrants were served on Rochester and suburban homes, following up on earlier raids back in April. Federal Prosecutor Andy Rodriguez says they seized substantial quantities of drugs and cash from homes in the city, Greece, Irondequoit and Perinton. Eight arrests were made in the Rochester area and one in Puerto Rico.

Add the two days of seizures together and 28 drug dealers were charged in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Authorities seized 18 guns, with well over a million dollars in cash seized, half-a-million dollars worth of jewelry and the drugs.
