Guilty Plea in Attack on Wyoming County Sheriff

A Castile man has pleaded guilty to attempting to murder the Wyoming County Sheriff a year-and-a-half ago.

Lynn Michael Hall will be sentenced in September, and faces 20-to-25 years in prison on the attempted murder charge. In December of 2018, Hall started tailgating Sheriff Greg Rudolph as he was on his way to work, flashing his lights. Sheriff Rudolph pulled over, thinking Hall was trying to get help. At that point, Hall began to fight with the sheriff and tried to take his gun/

Off-duty State Troopers and nearby Good Samaritans intervened and Hall was arrested. Hall had been at the sheriff's office a day earlier to apply for a pistol permit. An AR-15 and an unlicensed handgun were found in his trunk.
