Rochester City Council Discussing Changes to RPD

The Rochester City Council is discussing a series of proposals to change how the Rochester Police Department functions. Reducing the size of the incoming Rochester Police Department class by 50 percent in one of the proposals. That would save the city $750-thousand. Other ideas include removing School Resource Officers from all City Schools, cut the Rochester Police Department budget by $3.6 million, and reallocate $130-thousand from police overtime and special events to Recreation and Youth Services. Also, they are considering hiring two more community center managers.
