City Begins Cleanup After Saturday Rioting

The City of Rochester has declared a community-wide recovery and cleanup effort after yesterday evening's rioting and looting in Rochester.

Towing crews removed burned-out and damaged cars from a lot on Exchange Boulevard this morning and glass was being swept up downtown where windows were smashed and buildings looted.

The Rochester Fire Department, Department of Environmental Services and Neighborhood and Business Development are around the city looking at the damage from last night, helping owners secure their buildings and get rid of trash and debris.

A community cleanup is being organized. Those interested were asked to come to Frontier Field at 10 this morning to get their assignments and garbage bags. They'll be directed to the areas that need help the most.

The city says it will keep its 8 pm to 7 am curfew on for tonight and tomorrow night in an effort to prevent more violence. City Officials are expected to speak at 11:00.
