The governor also said hospitalizations in the state are lower now than they were when the COVID-19 outbreak first started in March. Meantime, 109 people passed away yesterday from the virus.
Governor Cuomo says re-opening the state needs to be done in a smart way, and the way to do that is to keep an eye on the numbers.
And as the warm weather approaches, Governor Cuomo is asking New Yorkers to remain vigilant in the coming months. Cuomo again stressed the importance of wearing a mask, especially because COVID-19 is mainly transmitted by airborne droplets.
Cuomo said wearing a mask is mandatory when riding on public transportation and when in public and within six feet of another person.
