Number of COVID-19 Hospitalizations in Monroe Co. Edging Up

The number of COVID-19 hospitalizations in Monroe County has been edging up in the last few days, and health officials want to know exactly why.

Health Commissioner Dr. Michael Mendoza says preliminary numbers indicate that nursing home and assisted living residents have made up a larger share of the newly admitted patients.

There has been no significant change in the numbers of patients on ventilators.

Meantime, more of the patients being discharged are people who live in private homes.

The Rochester region must stay under an average of 15 new hospitalizations per day to meet the state's reopening benchmarks.
