URMC Still Facing $200 Million Budget Deficit

The furloughs of more than 3,400 employees this week at UR Medicine won't end the financial crunch there.

The budget deficit is still close to $200 million.

But Chief Medical Officer Michael Apostolakos says URMC remains able to care for all patients -- including COVID-19 patients.

URMC hopes to be at 75% to 90% of operations by the end of August, but officials can't predict what will happen over the next few months.
