Governor Cuomo Extending Moratorium on Evictions for Another 60 Days

Governor Andrew Cuomo has extended his moratorium on residential and commercial eviction notices for another 60 days. The governor says until August 20th, nobody can be evicted across New York because the COVID-19 shutdown has made it impossible for them to pay their rent.

The governor says no one can say what’s coming, so extending the moratorium further is a possibility.

Cuomo also release survey numbers on New York’s medical workers during the coronavirus crisis showing that their rates of infection are about the same or in some cases less than the general public. He says that shows protective measures including masks, gloves and frequent hand washing work. And Cuomo says if masks work for people in a COVID-19 hospital environment, they’ll work for you.

The governor also says the state now has thousands of upstate farms delivering food directly to more than 50 downstate food banks for distribution to people who need it, getting around the disruption of the supply chain that was causing farmers to dump milk and produce.
