Hazard Pay Raise Approved For Certain Employees In Monroe County

The Monroe County Legislature has approved hazard pay for county employees at greater risk of exposure to the coronavirus.

The County will use money from the recent federal stimulus bill to cover the cost, which is expected to be more than one million dollars per month.

Employees will get raises of 10%-20%, retroactive to April 4.

The raises will expire at the end of the County's State of Emergency, or the end of the year -- whichever comes first.

Eligible employees include social service case workers, child welfare investigators, emergency housing personnel, law enforcement, jail guards, environmental service workers, nurses, food service workers and others.
