Monroe Co. Executive Proposing 'Hazard Pay' for County Employees

Monroe County Executive Adam Bello is proposing a temporary raise for county employees who are at risk for exposure to the coronavirus.

He would use money from the recent federal stimulus bill to award hazard pay amounting to raises of ten- to twenty percent for more than 2,400 county employees.

The raise would be retroactive to April 4 and continue until the end of the county's State of Emergency.

Those getting the raise would include public safety and public works employees, County Hospital staff, and some people who work in health and human services, veterans services, and the board of elections. Airport workers would get the raise, too.
