Murder Charge Filed in Allegany County Homicide

State Police have charged a Buffalo man with second degree murder and first degree manslaughter for a homicide in Allegany County.

Troopers say 52-year-old Phillip Farren was questioned when he was found at a residence on Holdridge Road in Allen. They had gone their to check on the welfare of a person. Their investigation found Farren had shot and killed the missing person earlier in the week, and was in the process of dismembering the victim's body when the Troopers arrived.

The body was taken to the Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office for investigation, and Farren is being held in the Allegany County Jail with no bail.

This is still an ongoing criminal investigation.
