State Investigation Requested Of Senior Living COVID-19 Case Reporting

Monroe County's Commissioner of Public Health is calling on the State Health Department to investigate The Hurlbut nursing home and how it was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a letter, Dr. Michael Mendoza says he's asking the state's assistance after a report in the D&C said that at least seven people died of COVID-19.

Mendoza says that number doesn't match the report on nursing home deaths from the coronavirus released by the state last week.

Dr. Mendoza says he's asking the state to investigate the accuracy of Hurlbut's reporting on COVID-19 cases and deaths.

Hurlbut has released a statement says -- to its knowledge -- all data about patients and COVID-19 sent to the state is accurate.
