Gov. Cuomo: New Yorkers Must Continue Social Distancing

Governor Cuomo says it appears the state will avoid the worst-case scenario because social distancing is working. Cuomo said at his daily briefing that they are currently using about 36,000 hospital beds. The state started with only 53,000 beds, but has expanded that to close to 90,000.

Cuomo said it is essential that New Yorkers continue to follow social distancing because the state will not be able to deal with a lot of infections if people try to go back to normal routines.

Cuomo said 799 people died from the virus yesterday. More than 7,000 New Yorkers have lost their lives so far during this pandemic.
