RIT researchers are leading an effort to produce a portable ventilator that can help coronavirus patients. RIT is working with local companies and healthcare experts on the prototype.
It plugs into the oxygen source available in most hospital rooms or into a tank of oxygen.
It was demonstrated for doctors from Rochester Regional Health on March 30. The team is making some tweaks to the design, based on feedback from the doctors. It will then need FDA approval.
