Two Individuals Are Being Held In Isolation

Two individuals are being held at the Monroe County Correctional Facility in Brighton...after both displayed symptoms of COVID-19. Both will be isolated there for 14 days under medical supervision as possible dangers to public health and safety.

One was locked up at the facility last night and the other today.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says the first individual was taken on a civil order for refusing to be tested for the coronavirus. The person was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for evaluation and then to the Brighton Jail Facility, which has a designated COVID-19 confinement area.

The second person was picked up by Rochester police on violent felony charges and showed symptoms of COVID-19 after first being brought to the Monroe County jail, where pre-admission screening turned up flu-like symptoms. Out of caution, the person was also taken to the Brighton Correctional Facility.
